David Hall Bauman (1969-2019) was an artist at Interact from 1997 to 2014. In addition to his visual art, David was an energetic performer, with a knack for mimicking the sound effects of the animal kingdom (especially big cats). David also competed in various sports, including scuba diving, floor hockey, down-hill skiing, basketball, softball, wrestling, and bowling – but his true love was Hawaii. After a family trip in 2005, David made the islands and their primordial landscapes the focus of his artwork, drawing intricately patterned pink volcanoes, craters, and clouds entirely from memory. In 2014, he moved to Hawaii with his sister, where he remained for the rest of his life. His drawings are a tribute to the places that fueled years of creativity and adventure, seen uniquely through David’s eyes.
